Astral Chill began as a theme camp at Firefly Arts Collective's annual event, with Paul Eggleston and Kris Thompson hauling their hardware synths, theremins and assorted gadgets into a Vermont forest. "Camp Astral Chill" has become the late-night Firefly oasis where they (along with various collaborators) have unfurled many an evocative flight of inner-spatial drone dimensioneering. The cauldron of sound, mingling with laser insect simulations on the encircling pine bowers above it, has made for some unusually heady times. And now Courtney Burke has officially joined as the project's full-time lighting and projection artist. The group has done extensive on-site recording of their spaceborne forest reveries, which comprise most of their released sounds.
