Elizabeth of Lore

About

Elizabeth of Lore is an interdimensional being who traverses the multiverse collecting messages that she shares through stories, performance art, and tarot readings. Her writing has been shared in a number of avenues, including at the FringeACT Theater Festival in Seattle; VICE, Vox, Columbia Journalism Review and other news outlets; and in performances around Brooklyn. She has been the recipient of a number of grants and fellowships, including a two-year journalism fellowship with Talk Poverty (under the name Elizabeth Brico), and a 2021-22 Unicorn Fund grant to support the completion of the first novel in her forthcoming epic fantasy series. This year, she is the creator of "The Book of Lifetimes," a sound and story performance art series, and the co-recipient of a grant from Movement for Family Power to produce a community theatre activism project in New York City. She also reads tarot at events all around New York, and hosts a monthly Visionary Writing Workshop and Sound Bath Journey where she teaches methods for channeling stories. She performs her stories all around Brooklyn and beyond, including at the Lost Dog Show, Moonoura Arts Expo, and Entheokitten. She holds an MFA in Writing & Poetics from Naropa University, and resides in a cosmic portal in Bushwick.

Philosophy

I see performance as a lifestyle. All of us are multidimensional beings who embody many selves; by some philosophies, those many selves also include other people. The act of performing is the act of channeling those other selves. This requires clarity, empathy, and dedication. Meditation, movement practices, community endeavors, and writing are all part of the act of performance--what I do in my daily life clarifies what I translate and bring to life on stage. I also see performance as a healing modality. We are able to share messages and vibrations that offer different perspective, heart and mind opening experiences, and a wide range of emotions which all allow for healing to take place. I have experienced many forms of magick in my life, but none that I feel such kinship with and love from as performance.
