Community Safety | Consent Culture Education | Transformative Justice

🌎 Striving to be the uniting entity of safety, empowerment & social synergy for North-East USA Dance communities + beyond. 🌎

I’m a firey double Leo with a passion for community organizing, social Justice & equality. I work to be trauma informed & inclusive of all folks of all backgrounds. It’s in my nature to create & build systems that improve the quality of life for folks. I’m a neurodivergent artist with a deep love of bass music & community gatherings. I was homeschool’d for most of my life until attending a small, community-run private school in highschool where we used a democratic model to run the school & direct our own learning.

Here we will discuss the topic of consent in relation to the EDM community + beyond.
Consent isn’t always black & white, in fact, there are many nuances of consent that are important to understand when relating to other humans in our scene & the world.
This workshop will be a community roundtable style discussion where facilitator Aliyah Mara (Co-Founder of The Coalition for Consent) will introduce topics such as:

💜 Enthusiastic Consent
💜 Power Dynamics
💜 Consent & Substances

Unfortunately we have seen firsthand in our EDM world how a lack of consent culture manifests as abuse & coercion within our community. A lack of understanding & education surrounding consent only perpetuates this harm. This is why the Consent Coalition strives to bring education & accountability to our beloved music community.
